through the portal to the horizon
A 10 minute CGI animation created with Blender. The animation is a trilogy of short narrative explorations into surreal landscapes, featuring a cast of characters who each begin in one location of a digital scene, travel through the scene encountering primitive geometry compositions combined with animated effects and actions, and end in another area of the scene, having crossed a threshold, gained something, or transformed in some way.
“through the portal to the horizon” was featured in the in solo exhibition of the same name at Deep Space Drive-In from 5/10 - 5/23.
Chapter 1: The View From the Edge - A meditation on live dance music culture’s relationship to land, ancestry, and perseverance.
Chapter 2: The Space Between the Thresholds - A meditation on how queer people occupy space in dance music settings.
Chapter 3: The Whole in the Center - A meditation on the resistant power embedded in live dance music cultures, intersecting with queer survival.
